Am I wrong, or are Inglourious Basterds’ subtitles set in Arial?
I also think I saw a single straight quote where an apostrophe should have been.

I’m more curious as to the significance of the inconsistency of the subtitles. For the better part, they translated the foreign language (usually German or French) into English, however there were occasions where they read exactly as the character speaks. For example at the beginning of the film, Hans thanks one of LaPedite’s daughters for milk in French (“Merci”.) The subtitle also reads ‘Merci’, as oppose to ‘Thankyou’. This occurs several times, usually for simple expressions. This is obviously not an error in editing, and I am curious as to the significance of it.

And what’s the problem with subtitles being set in Arial?

If disliking Arial in every context is wrong, I don’t wanna be right.
