Why do you think we have a desire to explain our existence? We have two diametrically opposed systems of belief; religions operating on faith and science functioning on theoretical precepts. And the only conclusion I can come to as to why either of them exist is to explain the unexplainable — where we come from and where we go after this. Religion offers us a god-created universe and eternal bliss and science offers us evolution and its concerted effort to thwart death(medical advances; though not effective at combatting contagion, has mapped the genetic structure of humans. Why? What is currently coming into conflict with the advancement of medicine? Religion and Science are butting heads over probably the quintessential sequence for understanding human existence. But oh well, I’d like to think I’d be happier not knowing my origins.
