Why Virb Is Way Better Than MySpace

No Responses · April 10, 2007

A few months ago I tried to convince myself that Vox could replace MySpace, but I think I secretly knew that it couldn’t. It was just too ugly and too difficult to use.

But, this time, I believe, I really believe, Virb can do it.

MySpace is loud, ugly, buggy, (flash-)ad-ridden, and owned by Fox. Virb is none of these things, but duplicates nearly all of MySpace’s functionality, being:

  • Easily find and add friends
  • Band pages (with music)
  • Comments/shoutbox
  • Upload photos
  • Create/join groups
  • Blog
  • Friends-only profile setting
  • Full CSS and HTML control

It even offers some amazing things that MySpace does not, being:

  • Turn off customization on a profile-by-profile basis
  • Feed any RSS feed into your blog (planned)
  • Integrate seamlessly with Flickr
  • Text-only Google AdWords ads

Plus, it’s just pretty and easy to use. Try it, try it, and add me as a friend.

I just hate MySpace so, much.
